Title Building COVID-19 updates
Arizona LaserChron SEM Facility (Geosciences) Gould-Simpson [77]

09-01-2021, We are currently operating with our own employees and also open for unassisted usage by trained users. Users must wear masks and wipe down all surfaces and contact areas. For training or assisted usage, please contact Zach Michels (zacharymichels@arizona.edu).

Biomedical Imaging Core (COM-PHX) Arizona Biomedical Collaborative (ABC, Phoenix) [3001]

08-27-2021, The core is open for unassisted usage by trained users. Users are asked wear masks and to wipe down all contact areas prior to and following use of instruments with cleaning reagents provided. For training or assisted usage please contact Kurt Gustin (kgustin@email.arizona.edu)

Functional Genomics Core (RII Cores) Keating BioResearch Building [240]

06-24-2020 [reviewed 10-05-2020], Functional Genomics Core is currently open with some restrictions. Face masks are required in the lab (and building) at all times. Microscope usage should be done with as much social distancing as possible. Disinfection supplies are available and users are asked to disinfect the instruments and surrounding surfaces before and after use.

Imaging Cores - Electron (RII Cores) Life Sciences North [221]

08-12-2021 - Imaging Cores - Electron continues to be open to previously trained users. New user training is available, but users can only be trained one at a time due to the small size of our microtomy/microscope rooms where it is not possible to adequately maintain social distance. Face masks are required at all times within the core lab per UA policy. For those planning for future experiments, writing grants or publications, we are available to support you. Please remember to acknowledge the core in your publications, we can supply appropriate verbiage. If you have questions, please reach out to Paula Tonino (core manager) or Binh Chau.

Imaging Cores - Optical (RII Cores) Marley Building [107], Life Sciences North [221]

08-12-2021 – Imaging Core – Optical is open to previously trained users. New user training is available, but users can only be trained one at a time due to the small size of our microscope rooms. Masks are required in the facility (per UA policy). For those planning for future experiments, writing grants or publications, we are available to support you. Please remember to acknowledge the core in your publications. If you have questions, please reach out to Patty Jansma (pjansma@arizona.edu) or Doug Cromey (dcromey@arizona.edu).

Kuiper Materials Imaging and Characterization Facility Kuiper Space Sciences [92]

08-17-2021, The Kuiper Materials Imaging and Characterization Facility is currently open for new users and trained users with face mask restrictions. Please contact Ken, Zoe, or Jerry for details.

MCB Imaging facility Life Sciences South [106]

04-16-2020, The Deltavision in LSS remains open only to existing users whose labs have received essential research waivers; no new users will be trained/allowed on the scope at this time. Only one user will be allowed in the microscope room at a time, and we strongly recommend that users wear gloves to minimize the risk of COVID-19 transmission (gloves should be removed by the user from the room). Regular sterilization of high-contact surfaces on the microscope will be maintained going forward. If you have questions, please e-mail rbuchan@email.arizona.edu

Research Microscopy Core Service (College of Medicine) Medical Research Building [241]

04-16-2020, The DeltaVision RT Deconvolution Fluorescence Microscope is currently available to trained users with a waiver for "essential research", however training sessions for new users has been suspended. Access to the MRB will require an authorized CatCard and a PIN. Prior to use, please contact Chris Pappas for current protocols and disinfection procedures.

SEM Facility (Geosciences) Gould-Simpson [77]

06-24-2020 [reviewed 10-05-2020], The Geosciences SEM facility is open to existing trained users. No new user training is taking place at this time. Please contact Isabel Barton (fay1@email.arizona.edu) with inquiries.

The Michael J. Drake Electron Microprobe Laboratory (LPL, Planetary Sciences) Kuiper Space Sciences [92]

06-24-2020, The Kuiper Materials Imaging and Characterization Facility is currently open with restrictions. The only assisted use available is with sample drop off. There are no sit-in sessions. Please contact Ken or Jerry for details. Unassisted users can continue to use instrumentation individually.
