(1) RDI provides an opportunity to apply for the CORE FACILITY PILOT PROGRAM. The CFPP funds can be used in RDI-managed core facilities for: the development of new methods or techniques, acquisition of preliminary data needed for extramural proposals, or the technical training of students conducting research under existing extramural funding. The current round of proposals is due October 1, 2019. If you happen to miss this round, the award is usually announced quarterly.

The Introduction to Scientific Digital Images workshop will be held on Thursday, August 22, 2019 from 8:30am to 1pm in the Kuiper Space Sciences building, room 308. The workshop provides a foundation for making good scientific and ethical decisions for working with digital image data. Open to students, staff, appointed professionals, faculty, and invited off-campus guests.

Please note, this workshop is only offered once per year in August.

The Materials Imaging and Characterization Facility (Imaging Cores - Kuiper) will be hosting a Raman Spectroscopy Workshop on Thursday July 11, 2019 from 10:30am-12:30pm, lunch will be provided. Demonstrations of the inVia Raman system (Lab room 9B) will be available from 1-4pm that day. The AFM workshop is open to all UA students and researchers who will be using Atomic Force microscopy for their research projects. Lab attendance is limited to 18 and preference will be given to new AFM users.Lecture attendance is not limited. The 3-day AFM workshop will consist of lecture and lab sections geared to introduce new users to the technique. Topics covered will include contact mode, intermittent contact mode (tapping or AAC mode), liquid imaging, and data analysis. This workshop is provided free of charge, and the deadline to apply for the course is Thursday June 6th at 5pm.
