Training Workshop on FRET, FLIM, and Metabolic Imaging Microscopy (June 15-19, 2026) Charlottesville, VA

The W.M. Keck Center for Cellular Imaging, a University of Virginia Imaging Center is sponsoring an advanced hands-on training course on fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET), fluorescence lifetime imaging (FLIM), and Metabolic Imaging (NADH/FAD/Tryptophan). In metabolic imaging (hands-on training), the focus will be on the fluorescence lifetime redox ratio (FLIRR), a novel metric to investigate both, mitochondrial OXPHOS and cytosolic glycolysis and quantitative data analysis.

There are few partial supports for the tuition fees from -

  1. The Histochemical society is supporting TWO fellowships (each $1000) to attend the workshop.
  2. Also, limited amount of financial assistance is available with the support from BINA (Bioimaging North America). https://www.bioimagingnorthamerica.org/join/

Here are few points briefly about the annual hands-on training workshop: https://kcci.virginia.edu/workshop-2026

  • Hands-on instruction and training on confocal, Spectral, lifetime (FLIM) FRET, and Metabolic imaging (FLIRR) Microscopy systems.
  • Discussion on best FLIM, FRET, and metabolic imaging and data analysis solutions.
  • Personal attention for a maximum of 20 participants.
  • Internationally recognized faculty.
  • Individual problem solving.
  • Live-cell specimens provided; participant's own specimens are welcome.
