Call for proposals - Advanced Imaging Center at Janelia Farms - April 2022 deadline
We are again accepting proposals from scientists who would like to conduct experiments at the Advanced Imaging Center (AIC) at Janelia Research Campus! The deadline to submit a proposal is 17:00 (US eastern time), April 15, 2022.
The AIC makes imaging technologies developed at Janelia available to the scientific community before the instruments can be purchased commercially. Scientific investigators from nonprofit organizations anywhere in the world may apply to use the facility.
We encourage applications from researchers who are addressing significant scientific questions that require measurements of cellular/molecular behavior at spatial and/or temporal resolutions that would only be possible for them through access to the AIC.
Under the program, visiting scientists will spend 2-3 weeks (or longer if there is justified reason) at Janelia to conduct experiments on a microscope with the support of the AIC team.
The currently available microscopes are:
- Interferometric Photoactivated Localization Microscope (iPALM)
- Focused Ion Beam Scanning Electron Microscope (FIB-SEM) with cryo-SIM CLEM option
- Lattice Light Sheet Microscope
- Multimodal Optical System with Adaptive Imaging Correction (MOSAIC)
- Simultaneous MultiView (SiMView) Light Sheet Microscope
The AIC is jointly sponsored by the Howard Hughes Medical Institute and the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation (GBMF). Proposals will be evaluated based on scientific merit through a two-tier review process by AIC/Janelia scientists and by a review panel of scientists from HHMI/Janelia, GBMF, and extramural imaging experts.
Scientists whose proposals are selected are responsible for travel arrangements to Janelia. The Janelia Visitor Program will cover the cost of lodging for the visiting scientist, basic experimental reagents, technical support from our applications scientists, and scope time.
Email aic@janelia.hhmi.org or Leong Chew (chewt@JANELIA.HHMI.ORG) with direct inquiries.
Please help us spread the word to your colleagues. Additional information about the instruments and instructions on how to apply is available on the AIC webpage (http://janelia.org/aic).
