Quantitative X-ray Microanalysis: Problem Solving Using EDS and WDS Techniques (June 1-5, 2026) Bethlehem, PA

The Lehigh Microscopy School course "Quantitative X-ray Microanalysis: Problem Solving Using EDS and WDS Techniques" will be conducted this year from June 1-5, 2026 at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA.

The course has been rebuilt to make it state-of-the-art for 2026. It will be of interest to beginning as well as advanced researchers that are involved with microanalysis. We will emphasize electron-probe microanalysis (EPMA) using energy-dispersive and wavelength-dispersive spectrometry. The course will use the highly capable Probe for EPMA operating system as a framework for methods discussion as well as laboratory exercises that are coordinated with the lectures. The instructors are all experts in EPMA and have extensive experience in microprobe analysis in their own laboratories. We welcome users that want to learn about microanalysis and the methods used in laboratories.

The course format includes lectures, lab sessions, with breaks and meals as a group. There is no equivalent course available elsewhere that offers the advanced level of instruction in EPMA.

Here is the description of the course:

Quantitative X-ray Microanalysis: Problem Solving using EDS and WDS Techniques

This course covers advanced quantitative EPMA using EDS and WDS spectrometry, and is designed for analysts from sectors that perform microanalysis.

We will cover beginning, intermediate, and advanced EPMA with an emphasis on using Probe for EPMA to solve real-world analytical problems.

Through an integrated series of lectures and laboratory sessions, you will learn about microanalysis and become more valuable as a researcher.

This course is all new for 2026 with updated content.
